When a child's mattress started smoking late Sunday night, the girl's mother instinctively dragged the burning bed through their Victoria apartment and threw it over the balcony.

Fire breaks out in university area apartment complex
Neighbors working together are credited for assuring that no one was injured when a fire broke out at an apartment complex just west of UNM. The fire was first reported at around 11 Monday night. It’s believed that a mattress caught on fire in one of the apartments in the middle of the complex.
