Mother guilty in son’s death
When 22-month-old Jeremiah Wofford refused to lie down for a nap, Triena Diane Wofford pinned him facedown on the mattress. On Thursday, Wofford, 23, admitted that her actions killed her son. She pleaded guilty to second-degree unintentional murder for the May 1 death at a Maplewood homeless shelter.

Mattress Fire At Northern Correctional
An inmate at Northern Correctional Institution set his mattress on fire Tuesday morning, causing about 40 inmates to be moved elsewhere in the supermax facility, a correction department spokesman said.
